Adverts and commercials can influence very much people’s way of thinking and their perception of the world due to marketing strategies very influencing on today’s society.
Young people like, for example, teenagers are even more influenced by this because they are on a age where they haven’t formed a personal opinion and they have not already a clearly defined character.
As I see it, for example TV adverts are a good way to show to the world a product, its features etc.. and ad mans through advertising agencies are very good describing whatever in an attractive way to make people buy it.
To my mind the real problem is misleading advertising because although there are companies which are in charge of this kind of advertising but I think It is not sufficient because since we get up in the morning until we go to bed, we are constantly bombarded by commercials everywhere: on tv, on the radio, on the Internet, in the streets etc… It should be much more controlled.
We have a very clear example on the well-known advertising of Pantene shampoo where the woman who is using it shows that this shampoo produces a very intense pleasure on her even till the point of the orgasm. It is not exactly misleading advertising but shows how this successful tv adverts exaggerate and even invent qualities of the products.
That’s why I think that adverts should be submitted to probes much more strict before announcing it on the media.
